CONTINUING EDUCATION
Keep your certification current. Keep inspiring change.
The fitness and health sciences are constantly evolving. To stay at the forefront of the industry — and to continue delivering the highest quality services to your clients — ongoing education is essential. That’s why NASM and AFAA require recertification every two years.
This process ensures that certified professionals remain up to date with the latest research, knowledge, and best practices, reinforcing their credibility and professional excellence.

Recertification Requirements
The following certifications must be renewed every two years:
- NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)
- NASM International Certified Personal Trainer (ICPT)
- NASM Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC) (Valid only in USA)
- NASM Certified Sports Nutrition Coach (CSNC)(Valid only in USA)
- NASM Certified Wellness Coach (CWC)(Valid only in USA)
- AFAA Group Fitness Instructor (GFI)
To maintain your certification, you must:
- Complete 2.0 CEUs (20 hours) of continuing education within each two-year cycle.
- At least 1.9 CEUs must come from approved fitness, health, or nutrition courses (see the NASM Course Providers list).
- 0.1 CEU must be earned through CPR/AED certification.
- Upload proof of completion through your NASM account in the Recertification Portal.
- Pay the recertification fee, choosing one of the following options:
- Standard Recertification: €190 every two years.
- Recertify for Life: €390 one-time fee + ongoing CEU requirements. This option eliminates the biennial fee and provides additional discounts on online courses and workshops.
By keeping your certification current, you not only meet professional requirements — you also invest in your own growth, strengthen your career prospects, and continue to inspire meaningful change in the lives of your clients.
