RECERTIFICATION
All official international certifications in the health and fitness field are valid for a specific period (typically two years). To maintain active status, professionals must earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) by completing approved courses. This process ensures that fitness professionals remain current with the latest knowledge, skills, and best practices.
How often is recertification required?
The NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) credential must be renewed every two years to remain valid.

What are the requirements?
- Earn 2.0 CEUs (equivalent to 20 hours of continuing education) within the two-year period through NASM-approved providers. You can view the full list here: NASM Preferred Providers.
- If your chosen program is not listed, it must align with relevant subject areas such as:
- New training techniques
- Innovative assessment methods
- Advanced exercise programming
- Program design strategies
- Nutrition
- Client relations and fitness marketing
- Hold a current CPR/AED certification.
- Submit all documentation through your official NASM account.
- Pay the recertification fee:
– €190 every two years, or
– €390 one-time payment with the Recertify for Life

What is Recertify for Life?
By enrolling in NASM’s Certify for Life program, you eliminate the €190 renewal fee every two years. You are still required to earn CEUs and maintain CPR/AED certification, but the one-time fee simplifies the recertification process and provides additional program discounts.
