NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and AFAA Group Fitness Instructor (GFI) certifications are open to all candidates aged 18 and above. While no prior degree is required, we recommend a basic understanding of anatomy and exercise science to support your learning journey.
Specialization programs (e.g., Corrective Exercise, Sports Performance, Nutrition, etc.) are advanced credentials designed for professionals who already have a foundation in fitness or health. Ideally, candidates should hold a Personal Training certification, a Sports Science or related university degree (e.g., kinesiology, physiotherapy, coaching), or an equivalent qualification.
Although NASM allows anyone to enroll in a specialization, applying the knowledge professionally often requires a recognized base credential. Without it, you may complete the program for personal knowledge, but to practice and work with clients, you should already be certified or academically qualified.
